WILMINGTON — Hilda Janette Ferguson, 87, of Wilmington, NC, passed away April 26, 2022, at her home. She was born April 22, 1935, in Powhatten Point, Ohio to the late Bernard Ruble and Daisy Hines Ruble.
Hilda moved to Inglewood, California where she met and married Leslie Ferguson, who had recently moved from England. She lived in Southern California for 40 years, where she raised her two boys. Upon Leslie’s retirement, they moved to North Carolina to be close to their grandchildren.
Hilda enjoyed researching her family genealogy and documenting their history, which went back almost 300 years. She also enjoyed spending time with her large, extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Ferguson; sisters, Madelyn Pratt (Stanley), Irene Briggs (Virgil), and Ruth Stone (Bill); and brothers, Dwayne Ruble (Kay), Myron Ruble (Ilene), and Rosswell Ruble (Hazel).
Hilda is survived by her sister, Bernadine Lindsey (Paul); sons, Michael Leslie Ferguson, of Wilmington, NC, and David Albert Ferguson (Annemarie) of Hampstead, NC; and grandchildren, Andrew Douglas Ferguson and Katherine Elizabeth Smith (Patrick).
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel, 17730 Hwy. 17 N., Hampstead, NC 28443.
