LELAND — Klara Gotzfried Chadwick, 91, of Leland, North Carolina, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022, after a long and difficult battle with cancer.
She was born in Memmingen, Bavaria, Germany, on December 30, 1930, to the late Franz Von Asissi Gotzfried and Anna Sinner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Bryan Chadwick, and son, Edward Bryan Chadwick, sister, Gertrud, and brothers, Franz Xaver, Erich and Manfred.
Klara leaves behind to cherish her memories a brother, Maxmilian Gotzfried (Karolina Steit), and a sister, Rosina Gotzfried (Karl Heinz Utz), sons Christopher Bryan Chadwick (Rebecca), and Richard Ray Chadwick (Wanda); grandchildren Christina Faye Chadwick, Klara Nicole Peterson (Billy), Richard Bryan Chadwick, and Mathew Humphries; great-grandchildren Nickolas, Alainna, Alexander, Hunter, Sawyer, Chance, and Fisher; and her special canine companion “Adolph.”
Klara was a longtime member of Woodburn Presbyterian Church in Leland. She operated and maintained Chadwick Mobile Home Park in Leland for many years, along with her husband and family. She was a talented farmer and gardener and grew many vegetables and flowers on her family farm in Leland. She loved and had many dogs on her farm and was always contributing to many animal rescues.
Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 pm Friday, February 25, 2022 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at the Chadwick Family Cemetery on the farm in Leland.
