Martin “Clark” Brinkley, 71

WILMINGTON — Martin “Clark” Brinkley, 71 of Wilmington, NC went to meet his Heavenly Father Saturday, November 27, 2021. He was born July 17, 1950, to the late Everett Earl Brinkley and Pamela Jean Pritchett Brinkley.

Clark is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Maxine Robbins Brinkley, a son Martin Brandon and wife (Carla), a daughter Lori Amanda and husband (Steven) and six grandchildren that he loved dearly; Eli, Micah, Asher, Seth, Amelia, and Martina.

Clark followed in his father’s footsteps by serving in the United States Coast Guard. He served in the USCG during the Vietnam Era and was a proud Veteran. Clark joined the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in 1979. During his service with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, he was an Accident Reconstructionist and served as Governor’s Security.

Clark was a licensed Amateur Radio operator, a hobby he shared with his son. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and most of all spending time with his family. Clark was a wonderful husband, and absolutely the best Dad and Granddad.  He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all that loved him and never forgotten by all that knew him.

A graveside service was held at the Brinkley Family Cemetery on December 5, 2021 with Rev. Skip Williams officiating. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol were pallbearers, and the United States Coast Guard were honor guards. Taps were played and a gun salute was done to honor Clark’s service.
