WILMINGTON — James “Jimmie” Wallace Robeson, 92, of Wilmington, NC, previously of Rocky Point, NC passed away on January 11, 2022. Jimmie was born on January 21, 1929 in Rocky Point, the son of the late Wallace Edward and Eula Huckabee Robeson. He was a graduate of Long Creek Grady High School and attended Wilmington College. Jimmie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, spending time on the Marshall Islands in the Pacific. Jimmie retired from Chevron U.S.A. as the Terminal Manager in Wilmington. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilmington, and a member of the King Solomon Lodge in Burgaw, NC.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Rose Merritt House and Fleurette Merritt Morse. He is survived by his devoted wife, Caryway Merritt Robeson, and by his daughters, Martha R. Greer of Wilmington; Linda R. Droste, her husband Ben of Richmond, VA; and Jamie R. Richter, her husband Jeff of Rocky Point. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Kara Curry, her husband Jeremy and their children, Grayson and Eliza; Merritt Garner, her husband John and their children, Wallace and Henry; Sarah Richter; and Dr. Caroline Droste-Lai, her husband, Dr. Raymond Lai; his niece Barbara Hodges, her husband Tommy; his great nieces, Amanda Nichols, her husband Nick and their children; and Jane Worrell and her husband Tripp.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Road, Wilmington, NC
