Bobbie Sue (Smith) Colvin, 80

WILMINGTON — Bobbie Sue Colvin (Smith) passed away at the age of 80 on October 18, 2021 after battling cancer. She was born in Amarillo, TX on April 5, 1941, and raised in Clovis, NM where she graduated from Clovis High School in 1959. She moved to Fredericksburg, VA in 1974 where she built a remarkable life for her family before finally moving to Wilmington, NC in 2009.

She will be remembered and appreciated for so many wonderful things., including the countless sacrifices she made for her family. Her talent and ability to nuture life was evident from her gardens, both indoor and out. Holidays in her home were always full of beautiful decorations, the tastiest foods, and most importantly love. Her thoughtfulness and caring for others shined in her gift giving gestures. She always wanted others to feel comfortable. Whether it was a pot of pinto beans from the Southwest where she grew up, or a crab cake made from scratch, she welcomed new friends and old. She taught her granddaughters the love of baking from the time they could walk…. countless memories full of laughter and sprinkles. The impact she had on those around her is immeasurable, and she leaves the world a much better place.

Bobbie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bill Colvin; two children, Jeff Colvin of Durham, NC and his wife Kelly, and Leah McCall and her husband John, also of Wilmington, three grandchildren , Adley (13) Delaney (13), and Meris (10), who will always cherish the fond memories she gave them. She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law Gary and Jimmie Smith of Albuquerque, NM and a sister, Paula Best of Portales, NM.
