HAMPSTEAD — Donald Glennen Langley Jr. passed away October 2, 2021 at New Hanover Regional in the company of his son and daughter at seventy years old. He was born July 20, 1951 in Wilmington, NC to Donald Glennen Langley Sr. and Iris Glenda (Barber). A graduate of New Hanover High School, he moved to Hampstead, NC when it wasn’t much more than a two lane road with a small grocery, gas station, and a church. He had a welding career alongside his father and brothers at Dupont and retired as a site manager for J.E. Merit in 2006. He loved nothing more than his family, fast cars, motorcycles, Nascar, off color jokes and his dog, Buddy.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sarah Jean (Langford), his youngest brother; Kevin “Gibbs” Lee Langley, his children; Donald Glennen Langley III of Ohio, Travis Langley of Hampstead, Summer Langley of Hampstead, and stepson Adam Cameron of Wilmington. He leaves behind eight grandchildren; Dalton Driscoll, Joseph Militello, and Samantha Hanna of Ohio, Savannah Hardin, Keegan Martin, Ella Langley, Anna Cameron, and Grace Cameron of North Carolina. With his passing he is reunited with his parents, beloved brothers; Joseph Alvin Langley and David Ray Langley and many friends gone too soon.
He had a strong dislike for all things formal or inauthentic so his wish was not to have a service. His family honors this by asking you to share your remembrances here. If you’re so inclined find a seat on your back porch or at your favorite watering hole and raise a glass (all the better if it’s a Miller High Life) to Donald Langley a true Wilmington and Hampstead original who will be sorely missed by all who love him.
