Anita ‘Darlene’ Parker

LELAND — Anita “Darlene” Parker, 58, born Sept. 17, 1962, went to be with Jesus Wednesday, July 28, 2021, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer, which she fought with grace and grit.

Darlene grew up in Wilmington and graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 1981. She earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Cape Fear Community College. Darlene lived life to the fullest in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Wilmington, Charlotte and Leland.

Darlene was known as a sweet, caring, fun, generous and vivacious woman to all who loved her. She was the best gift-giver, party planner, decorator and cheerleader. She never missed a chance to celebrate her loved ones! Darlene was a dedicated and loving mom to her fur babies, Moose and Sugar; sister, aunt and friend to “the girls.” Enjoying the beach with her family and friends was Darlene’s favorite place to be.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” Parker Sr. and Ruby Parker.

She is survived by her brother, William “Billy” Parker Jr. (Kendall) of Charlotte; nephew, William “Will” Parker III (Leah) of Charlotte; niece, Karen Isabell (Andy) of Lewisburg, W.Va.; and great-nephew and great-nieces, Kayden, Sydney and Anna Hayes.

Services for Darlene will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, at Woodburn Presbyterian Church, Leland.
