Sarah Lois Speegle Adkins, 79, remembered for her spunky nature and unconditional generosity

LELAND — Sarah Lois Speegle Adkins, 79, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at home.

Sarah was born July 19, 1942, in Hartselle, Alabama, a daughter of the late Buster Speegle and Clese Esther Brooks. Two sisters, Joyce Burris and Rachel Irving, preceded her in death.

Sarah loved singing to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reminding them that she loved them a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. She loved Jesus and reading the word. She will be remembered for her spunky nature and unconditional generosity.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Ann Mintz of Leland; son, Russell Lee Ray, and his wife, Michelle, of Leland; 11 grandchildren, Erik, Greg, Cameron, Russell II, Asya, Kelsey, Noel, Brie, Aylana, Canaan and Eden; six great-grandchildren, Alannah, Reagan, Carissa, Elyssa, Remington and Piper; and brother, Elton Lanier, and his wife, Joyce, of Illinois.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 6, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 7, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
