KURE BEACH — Matthew James Turgeon, 41, the brightest star that ever shone, left us Monday, July 5, 2021.
Originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, he recently moved to North Carolina to be closer to his family. He thrived here and worked at The Spot. He loved it, and in a few short months, he made wonderful friends. His effervescent personality touched everyone he met. His heart was the size of the universe and kindness was his middle name.
For those who knew him, knew that cooking, The Golden Girls, Lil’ Kim and singing karaoke were just a few of his favorite things, and we can’t forget The Sound Of Music and Absolutely Fabulous!
Matt was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Roland Turgeon.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Doreen M. Turgeon, and her partner, Don Frestler; two sisters, Kathryn Turgeon and Brenna Brazier (Turgeon). Matt will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Gracie, Kylie, Connor, Maddalyn and Jackson, who brought him so much joy. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
A memorial celebration will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, July 22, at The Spot, 1006 South Lake Park Blvd., Carolina Beach.
