ASH — Ms. Loudella Simmons Babson, 82, passed Tuesday, June 15, 2021, in Premier Living, Lake Waccamaw. She was born Feb. 23, 1939, in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Kivie McRay Simmons Sr. and Louie Belle Hughes Simmons. She was the widow of Walter L. “Verney” Babson.
She is survived by a son, Kelvin Michael Babson of Little River, South Carolina; daughter, Priscilla Chamberlin, and her husband, Sandy, of Holden Beach; grandchildren, Cory Chamberlin, McCray Babson, Kelvin Michael Babson Jr., Heather Acura, Alex Totzke and Ashley Heflin; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sonda Simmons of Whiteville; and special friends, Cyndi Piscitelle and Jeanette McPherson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Lynn Milliken and Teresa Ann McLean; brother, K.M. Simmons; grandson, Stuart Chamberlin; and granddaughter, Tonya Babson.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 19, at New Britton Baptist Church, Ash, with the Rev. Steve Nobles officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to services at the church.
