Mildred Cicchitti, 97, remembered for her honesty and warm heart

WILMINGTON — Mildred Cicchitti, 97, left this world to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, June 3, 2021. Mildred was born Oct. 13, 1923, to William and Ursula Rauff in Brooklyn, New York, where she grew up. After relocating to Farmingdale, Long Island, New York, Mildred and her husband Tom raised four children.

She spent many happy senior years in Wilmington. A devout Catholic, Mildred will forever be fondly remembered for her honesty, warm heart and classic Italian cooking.

Mildred is survived by her three children, Barbara Karpowicz, Geri Patrovich and Robert Cicchitti; and 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cicchitti; daughter, Kathleen Tenney; brother, William Rauff; granddaughter, April Tenney; and son-in-law, Paul Karpowicz.

A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 12, at the Coble Funeral Home Chapel, 1155 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington. Livestreaming will be made available for those who cannot attend in person. To receive a link, please email a request to to receive the livestream code before service begins. A recording of the service will be made available for 90 days after the service. Interment will follow directly after the service at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradly Drive, Wilmington. At the family’s request, masks are required if not vaccinated.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to Mildred’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
