Willie C. Norris Jr., 62, cherished his years as a teacher

Willie C. Norris Jr.

WILMINGTON — Willie C. Norris Jr. passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, with loved ones by his side. He was born Oct. 10, 1958, to Willie Sr. and Shirley Norris.

Willie spent most of his life in Wilmington, only leaving a few times, but always returning back home to Wilmington and his family. He was definitely a beach lover. He was a positive thinker about things that were important in life and genuinely loved all people, but his ultimate love was for the Lord. He loved his years working with children and being a teacher. His church and church family meant the world to him. He was a very happy person and loved life and helping others.

He spent hours just listening to others and was a very quiet and respectable man. He took on the job of raising his granddaughter, and he was the greatest “Papa” there probably ever was. Anyone who knew him, knew that he was a very unique person with a heart of pure gold. Willie will no longer have to struggle with the physical beings that were bringing him down in life, he is now free. We all love you, Willie, and you are going to be missed immensely by many, but we can all find peace in knowing that you’re with the Lord and that you have met your goal to live in eternity with the Lord. You definitely deserve to take a rest and focus on yourself, your work here on earth is done. You’re free to dance, love and laugh all you want now.

Willie leaves behind his mother and three siblings, Michael, Tana and Kathy. Also many other family members and many very close friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 10, at the chapel of Coble Funeral and Cremation Service.

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5
