Edie Bugg Strickland, 63, cherished many lifelong friendships

Edie Bugg Strickland

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. — Edie Bugg Strickland, 63, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, with her husband at her side.

Edie was born Nov. 13, 1957, at James Walker Hospital in Wilmington to the late John Edward Bugg and Lennie Canady Bugg. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Timothy Dale Strickland of Richmond Hill, Georgia.

Edie met the love of her life, Tim, in fifth grade while attending Sunset Park Elementary School in Wilmington. They became high school sweethearts in the summer of 1975 and were married May 7, 1977.

Initially, they resided in Wilmington and then moved to Columbia, South Carolina, in March 1979. They returned to Wilmington to be closer to their family in August 1984 until relocating to Richmond Hill in January 2007. Edie and Tim cherished the memories of the lifelong friendships that were made wherever their home was.

Edie dedicated her life to Jehovah God July 15, 1972, and remained faithful until her death. She found great pleasure telling others about God’s promises of a better future, such as, what is found at Revelation 21:4, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Edie greatly looked forward to this promise throughout her courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease over the past 13 years. She died knowing that she would be safe in Jehovah God’s memory until the time that he called her to wake up on a paradise earth.

Edie and Tim greatly appreciated all of the people who touched her life over the years — their loving family, spiritual brothers and sisters, close friends and her caregivers.

A memorial service will be held via Zoom at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 5. Please contact the family for further details.
