BURGAW — Earl Thomas “Tommy” Spencer Jr., 75, peacefully passed from his earthly life Saturday, May 22, 2021, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1945, in Wilmington, the son of Earl Thomas Spencer Sr. and Lucille Evelyn Barnhill Spencer. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his sister, Daisy Wells, and her husband, Roy; and brother-in-law, Gerald Whitley.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Eloise Spencer; sons, Earl T. Spencer III and John Allen Spencer, and his wife, Natalie; stepchildren, Teresa B. Childers, Steven A. Burns and Michael V. Burns, and his wife, Sandra; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; sisters, Ellen Faircloth, and her husband, Russell, Nancy Giddens, and her husband, Charles, and Peggy Whitley; brother, Neal Spencer, and his wife, Wanda; and many extended families.
He graduated from Atkinson High School in 1965 and went on to become a great farmer and trucker. Tommy came from a large family, so we are recognizing his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and all who knew and loved him. We thank you for your love and thoughtfulness. May the Lord be with us all. We love you.
A private family memorial service will be in the coming week.
