WILMINGTON — Susan Gore McKoy, 67, was born on March 23, 1954, in Wilmington to James and Carolyn Gore and departed this life Sunday, May 16, 2021, after an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Candace Gore Brown.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Johnnie McKoy Jr.; daughters, Amanda “Mandy” Robinson (Scott) and Lindsey Chiu (Bryan); her grandchildren, who she treasured most, Matthew Robinson, Hanna Robinson and Wesley Chiu; sister, Sharon Leiner (Gray); brothers, Roger Gore and Michael Gore; and many special in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 21, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 22, at the Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2237 Castle Hayne Road, Wilmington. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s memory to Bethany Presbyterian Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Foundation, SECU House – Chapel Hill or Jason Ray Transplant Clinic at UNC Hospitals.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many doctors and nurses who cared for Susan, especially those at Wilmington Health, UNC Hospital and Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
