Randall Jason ‘Randye’ Rice, 51, true beachcomber who loved camping with friends and family

Randall Jason ‘Randye’ Rice

CAROLINA BEACH — Randall Jason “Randye” Rice, 51, passed away suddenly Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at his home. He was born Nov. 9, 1969, in Fort Pierce, Florida, to Claudia Lee and the late Robert Laurence Rice. He and his brother, Rob, were raised by their mother, Claudia, and their late loving stepfather, Robin G. Spuhler.

Randye leaves behind his mother; current stepfather, Buzz; siblings, Lynn, Denise, Rob, Kim, Robin, Ramon, and their newfound brother, Stephen. In addition, his extended family includes aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and faithful dog and best friend, River. He will be truly missed by all, including a sea of friends and neighbors, which include his close friends, Wade, Mark, Brad and Chris.

Growing up, Randye was an Eagle Scout, of which he was very proud. He loved the outdoors. He worked in landscaping, enjoyed camping with his friends at a special place on the Cape Fear River and was an avid fisherman. He spent many enjoyable days on the water with his friends and brother, Rob. He had a great sense of humor. Some might remember the practical jokes he played on them, especially his sister! Randye was a true beachcomber and lover of dogs, fish and his family and friends…not necessarily in that order…but maybe.

The island was his favorite place on earth. Most of the locals will remember him walking his big yellow lab on the streets of Carolina Beach. We will miss his friendly face, as he was loved by everyone.

A memorial for Randye will be held at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, April 24, at the fishing pier at Carolina Beach State Park. Please join us to celebrate his life and bring a story to share. (Remember your mask and a chair if needed.)

Share online condolences with the family at Coastal Cremations & Funeral Care.
