William Daniel ‘Bill’ Foden Jr., 81, Marine Corps veteran

William Daniel ‘Bill’ Foden Jr.

SOUTHPORT — William Daniel “Bill” Foden Jr., 81, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021. If you’re wondering, he didn’t die of COVID-19, but rather, his umpteenth cancer.

He was born Oct. 24, 1939, in Staten Island, New York, to William Daniel Foden Sr. and Agnes O’Shea Foden. He was the oldest of five children and is survived by his four sisters, Frances Foden, Judy Fabian-Pullano, Dorothea Foden Dooley and Nancy Bowman. His second mother was his Aunt Anna Marie “Nancy” O’Shea, who was besotted with him from the time he was a baby.

In 1965, after attending Villanova University and serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Bill married the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Kathryn Bradley Foden, and settled in the Ardmore/Havertown area of Pennsylvania.

Their marriage produced four beloved children, Jennifer Anne Dickson, William Bradley Foden, Jon Ingram Foden and Timothy Liam Foden. Those children in turn provided Bill with five grandchildren with whom he was hilariously awkward, Liam Bradley Dickson, Jake Manning Foden, Andrew Parker Foden, Charles Felix Foden and Julian O’Shea Foden. He also leaves sister-in-law, Constance Malatesta; daughters-in-law, Florence Foden, Anna Foden and Tamara Waltz, and was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dr. Brian Dickson, who was his buddy.

Bill loved tall ships and the so-called “four food groups: caffeine, nicotine, chocolate and pizza,” but not as much as we loved him.

“Notwithstanding the below, please do not send flowers. Bill’s wife was a florist, we had enough over her lifetime.”
