HAMPSTEAD — Marilyn Joan Bader, 78, peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn was born to Peter and Rosalie (Jugan) Peterson on May 29, 1942. She was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and spent most of her life in Woodbridge, New Jersey, before retiring to Hampstead in 1999.
She graduated from Woodbridge High School and made her career as a legal secretary for 40 years, working for various law firms in the Woodbridge area.
She was a communicant of All Saints Catholic Church in Hampstead, North Carolina. Marilyn was a selfless person who was always willing to help her family and friends with anything and everything.
Many of her hobbies were enjoyed outdoors. Often you would find Marilyn launching the boat from Harbour Village Yacht Club with a fishing pole in hand or on her favorite beaches of Topsail Island and Cape Hatteras searching for the perfect seashell. Other leisure activities included Garden Club, Red Hat Society, basket weaving and traveling.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Louis Bader; loving daughters, Jodi Flynn and Jill Bader; and son-in-law, Christopher Flynn. Marilyn is also survived by her caring grandchildren, Hailey Flynn, Kyle Critchley and Corey Critchley; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass will be held in both North Carolina and New Jersey. Details regarding dates and times for Mass services will be announced in the near future.
