Mildred ‘Faye’ Smith, 75, remembered for her kindheartedness

ROCKY POINT — Mildred “Faye” Smith, 75, died Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice, Wilmington.

She was born June 21, 1945, in Whiteville, the daughter of the late J.S. Wells and Mildred Ann Bullard. She is survived by her brother Hubert “Buddy” Wells; two sisters, Barbara Jo Atkinson and Jetti Diane Davis; and sister-in-law, “Sis” Martha Wells. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Charles Smith, who died in 2004.

Faye enjoyed fishing, going to the mountains, gardening and spending time with her family. She worked at Marpac for 38 years. She will be remembered for her kindheartedness and being good to everyone she knew.

She is survived by four daughters, Wendy Leigh, and her husband, Marty, Sandra Smith, and her significant other, Billy Brasili, Bridgette Muriel, and her husband, Stevens, and Lori Rogers, and her significant other, John Register; seven grandchildren, Brandy, Megan, Robert, Tyler, Conner, Miranda and Breanna; and four great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Gavin, Bailyn and Auden; many nieces and nephews; and close family friend, C.M. Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, at Anchor Baptist Church, 300 Futch Creek Road, Wilmington, where visitation will be held from noon until the time of services. The service will be broadcast live at abcwilmington.com. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington. Pallbearers will be Earl Thompson, Neil Smith, Jimmy Smith, Jerry Biggs, Mike Smith and James Atkinson.
