Donald C. Noe, 85, Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War

OAK ISLAND — Donald C. Noe, 85, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2020.
Mr. Noe was born July 12, 1935, to the late Hevia and Alice Noe.

Donald served 20 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a master sergeant. He served in the Special Forces, and had three tours of duty in Vietnam. Donald was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Fort Devens, Massachusetts; and Fort Gulick in the Panama Canal Zone. After he left the U.S. Army, he owned a Radio Shack in Fayetteville and later retired from Duke Power in Southport.

Donald loved his family and he loved his God. He was a member of Osceola Baptist Church in Brown Summit. Locally, he had attended First Baptist Church of Oak Island. Donald never met a stranger, he spoke to everyone he met along the way, often asking them “if they knew Jesus.” He loved fishing and golfing.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Noe; and sister, Marion Gates.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Noe; two children, Larry T. Noe and Pamela Sue Hall, and her husband, David; two stepchildren, Michael W. Bullins, and his wife, Marian, and Timothy G. Bullins, and his wife, Bets; and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date when it is deemed safe to do so.
