WILMINGTON — Lalah Janet Branch Davis, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at her home.
Janet was born July 14, 1934, in Wilmington to LeRoy Branch and Beatrice Elizabeth Mintz Branch. She was the widow of Robert John Davis, who died Sept. 16, 2017. They were married for 64 years. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Roy Branch; and sisters, Betty Warner Brown and Joyce Malpass.
Janet was a longtime member of Winter Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling in the United States and around the world with her husband while he was in the U.S. Air Force, making many friends along the way and keeping in touch with most of them. She loved antiques, Thomas Kincaid art, collecting furniture and clocks. She loved her family and had a welcoming home and heart.
To quote her, “I didn’t take crap from anyone, and loved to laugh, eat, travel and gamble…ssshhh.”
She is survived by her children, Robert L. Davis, and wife, Linda, Brett Davis and Shannon Davis, and wife, Janet; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Branch, and wife, Carol; and other extended family members, including her nieces, Annette Warner Rodenberg and Delores Livengood, who she treated like her children: and her lifelong best friend, Doris Holland.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, at Winter Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Teachey officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
