Joyce DiMeglio Lopez, 72, collected many awards and accolades for her savvy computer skills

WILMINGTON — Mrs. Joyce DiMeglio Lopez, 72, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020. She was the beloved wife of S. Ben Lopez. Born Aug. 28, 1948, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter to the late Frank and Gladys DiMeglio.

Joyce graduated from Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, Maryland. She furthered her education at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. Throughout her career, she worked as an administrative assistant and executive secretary. Her skills with computers, mainframe, P.C. and her favorite Macintosh, earned her many awards and accolades. She managed to work up until the day she found out she had pancreatic cancer.

She was preceded in death by her stepsister, Pat Rutter; and stepbrother, Ray Hanson.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Eric Devereaux and Kevin Devereaux; sister, Maria Chakalakis; brother, Frank DiMeglio Jr.; and three stepdaughters, Melinda Pleasant, Dana Haney and Christina Davis.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends that donations be sent to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
