SHALLOTTE — Dale McCoy “Grumpsey” Edwards, 80, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, Bolivia.
He was born Sept. 19, 1940, in Columbus County. He was the son of the late Fred Win Edwards and Vara Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beryl Carrol “Mumpsey” Edwards.
Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force after serving for 21 years until his retirement. He also retired from the Department of Transportation. He was a member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church and also a member of the Royal Order of the Moose.
Surviving are his son, Gary D. Edwards, and his wife, Melinda, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two daughters, Jo O’Grady, and her husband, Mick, of England, and Lyn Edwards Price of Carolina Shores; two brothers, Wayne Edwards of Wilmington and Gene Edwards of Shallotte; two sisters, Jacqueline Vann and Carolyn Edwards, both of Wilmington; and four grandchildren, Heather “Pru” Jones, Beryl “Gemma” Lexi Edwards, Taylor “Chess” Edwards and Ali “Bliss” Price.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Brunswick Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
