Romulus Eugene ‘Gene’ Britt, 67, devoted member of Seagate Baptist Church

Romulus Eugene ‘Gene’ Britt

WILMINGTON — It is with great sadness to announce that Romulus Eugene “Gene” Britt, 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020.

Gene was born June 25, 1953, in Wilmington and graduated from New Hanover High School in 1972. Above all, Gene loved spending quality time with his family and loved ones. He also enjoyed collecting coins, taking care of the family pets, greeting the mailman every afternoon and large cups of creamer with a splash of coffee.

Gene was deeply devoted to his relationship with Christ and attended church at Seagate Baptist Church, where he also sang in the choir. With his kind heart and pure soul, Gene never met a stranger. Every person in the world was just a friend he hadn’t had the opportunity to meet yet. He had an unconditional love for all people and always saw the good in everyone. Gene found joy in what he had, never feeling the need for more, and valued his relationships with the people that surrounded him.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Romulus and Sue long Britt; and sister, Donna Britt Greene.

He leaves behind his brother, William “Randy” Britt; nieces, Christy Britt Bridgers (Mike), Stephanie Britt (Sheldon) and Amy Britt Newkirk (Charles); nephews, Jason Greene (Katie) and Patrick “Joey” Greene; five great-nieces, five great-nephews and one great-nephew in the oven; Terri Harrell and family, “C.B.” Lewis (“Cricket”) and family, Susan McGuire, Pat Greene and all of his fellow members of Seagate Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service, 1155 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington. Immediately following his memorial service, Gene will be laid to rest in Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Gene to Seagate Baptist Church.
