WILMINGTON — Gladies Vernell Neville, 90, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at her home with her family by her side. She was born May 16, 1930, in Wilmington, the daughter of Maxie Leon Bolton and Alma Pearl Cox Bolton.
Gladies is survived by her children, Randy Neville, Sharon Collet, Connie Lawson and Sheila McCarthy; grandchildren, Scott Cherry, Ben Collet, Nicole Lawson and Natalie Collet; great-grandchild Vivienne Collet; and several nieces and nephews.
Together with her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lula Benton; and seven brothers and sisters.
Gladies loved cooking for her family, spending time tending to her garden and never passed up an opportunity to go treasure hunting at thrift stores and specialty shops.
She had a genuine love for people and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at a visitation to be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A service to celebrate Gladies’s life will follow.
