Joyce A. Jackson Williams, 88, traveled throughout America donating her time and labor

WILMINGTON — Ms. Joyce A. Jackson Williams, 88, died Sunday, July 19, 2020, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

She was born June 24, 1932, in Robersonville, daughter of Jesse and Neva Bell Ayers. Ms. Williams was an active member of Pine Valley Baptist Church. She retired from UNCW in 1989.

She joined an Airstream Travel Club. She joined Roving Volunteers in Christ Service (RVICS) and traveled throughout the United States donating time and labor to Christian organizations for 6 years. She also spent 3 years with Baptist Home Mission Board and 15 years as a volunteer at N.H. Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Harry C. Jackson and Berry A. Williams; sister, Christine Ayers; stepbrother, Sonny James; and stepfather, Carlton James.

Surviving are his stepson, H.C. “Jack” Jackson, and his wife, Linda; stepdaughter, Ann Shields; grandson, James Harris, and his wife, Sherri; great-grandsons, Andrew and Joseph Harris; sisters, Shelby Hunter and Annel Boyer; sister-in-law, Sarah James; nephews, Wayne and Troy Council; nieces, Dr. Meg Brummer, Amy Prince and Jane Hamdolloh.

A graveside service for the family will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Brian Blackwell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association or your favorite charity.
