KURE BEACH — Arthur “Archie” Tsangarides, 86, passed Sunday, May 31, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his beloved family.

He was born July 14, 1933, in Lowell, Massachusetts, the son of the late Fred and Athena Pappafagos Tsangarides. Also remembered are his daughter, Christy Tsangarides Hendrickson; stepfather, Nicholas Dongas; and brother, Tony Tsangarides, all of whom preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of over 60 years, Wanda Patrum Tsangarides; daughter, Cortney Tsangarides Mullis, and her husband, Bryan, of Monroe, North Carolina; son, Nicholas “Chip” Tsangarides of Oak Island; and seven grandchildren, Nikki, and her husband, Zach, Brittany, Saylor, Ryder, Canyon, Ava and Axl.

Archie was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from AT&T after 32 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 753 in Carolina Beach, the Got-Em-On Live Bait Club and American Legion Post 129.

Heaven gained a special angel, the man, the myth, the legend of Kure Beach…”The Arch.” If you had the opportunity to meet The Arch, you were blessed and will never forget him. Arch loved everything about life. Some of his favorites were tennis, golf, fishing, poker and shagging with his lifelong dance partner, but what Arch loved most about life was his family and his Wanda.

Archie’s Greek name is Athanasius, which means, Greek male who is immortal, living forever, never dying. There could not be a more fitting name for such a man who has left an impression on everyone he met and has given us so many memories that will keep him alive in our hearts eternally.

Private services for the family will be held. The family will be receiving friends at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, June 4, at Battle Acre (the Rocks) at Fort Fisher.

Memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children, Oxford, NC.

Share online condolences with the family at Andrews Mortuary & Crematory.
