SHALLOTTE — Carrie Mae Floyd, 72, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston.
Mrs. Floyd was born May 11, 1947, in Ocean Isle Beach, daughter of the late Walter Floyd and Katie Milliken Floyd. She was founder and operator of Brunswick Tire Service in Shallotte for many years. Mrs. Floyd enjoyed saltwater fishing, harvesting oysters and digging clams, and cooking or roasting them for her family.
In her early years, she studied to become an ordained minister. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and especially learning how to use Siri on the cell phone to call her family.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Junior Floyd and Jesse Floyd.
Survivors include her children, Donna Seavey of Shallotte and Aaron Sellers of Bolivia; brothers, Billy Floyd of James Island, South Carolina, Douglas Floyd of Ocean Isle Beach, Spud Floyd of Newport and Roger Floyd of Supply; two sisters, Mary Lambert and Vera Mae Gray, both of Concord; and two grandchildren, Corey Babson and Zachary Babson.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, with Pastor Eric Dawes officiating. Burial will follow in Griffin Cemetery, Ash. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
