Nathan Ellis Hewett, 69, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019. He was born May 26, 1950, in Brunswick County to the late Orbie P. Hewett and Allene Sarvis Hewett.
He received two degrees from Cape Fear Community College and was a retired tugboat captain with Hanover Towing.
Surviving are his wife, Charlene Milliken Hewett; sons, DeWayne Hewett (Lisa) of Shallotte, Jeff Hewett of Chesapeake and Keith Hewett of Supply; brother, Harris Hewett of Saxis; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Shell Point Baptist Church by the Revs. Landis Lancaster, Tommy Inman and Larry Milliken. Burial will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Casket bearers will be nephews, Gavin Evans, Eric Evans, Jamie Stanley, Larry Hewett, Korey Hewett and Reed Garcia; grandson, Jeff Hewett; and brother-in-law, Roger Simmons.
