WILMINGTON — Laura Mildred Winders, 87, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCare Center.
She was born April 21, 1931, in Lumberton, the daughter of the late Ellis Leon and Lila Lockey Miller. Also remembered is her son, John Stephens Dickens, and his wife, Margaret, who both preceded her in death.
Surviving is her son, Bob Dickens (Jean); two daughters, Betty Pait and Louise Rivenbark (Tim); two sisters, Helen Belt and Rose White; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Winders enjoyed sewing and dancing, but she will be remembered most for her love of family, especially the joy she received from her three generations of grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 23, at Mill Creek Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, ALSAC, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
