Betty C. Ferguson, 81, volunteered with Autumn Care of Shallotte

SHALLOTTE — Betty C. Ferguson, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.

She was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Brunswick County, the daughter of the late Tommy McCumbee and Etha Laura Stone McCumbee. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lemuel “Buddy” McCumbee; and two sisters, Ida Mae Brennan and Margaret Guyton.

Mrs. Ferguson was very active in her community. She was a member of Shallotte First Baptist Church and also attended United Vision Pentecostal Church. She loved helping as a volunteer at Autumn Care of Shallotte, cooking, was an avid gardener, and, in her spare time, loved to crochet.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Floyd Raymond Ferguson of the home; daughter, Sandy Duran, and her husband, Greg, of Cary; son, Kelwin Ferguson, and his wife, Donna, of Shallotte; sister, Euzena Coleman of Shallotte; four grandchildren, Noah Ferguson, Kaleb Ferguson, Stephen Duran, and his wife, Makiko, and Charity Brown, and her husband, David; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Brown and Charlotte Brown; a special pet, “Lucky”; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, at White Funeral and Cremation Service Shallotte Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
