LELAND — Frankie O’Neil Long Holmes, 91, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center, Wilmington.
She was born June 6, 1927, in Brunswick, Georgia, daughter of the late Herbert Long Sr. and Frankie Lee Tucker Long.
Mrs. Holmes was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Leland.
Surviving are her daughter, Dorothy H. Flynn of Leland; son, Mike Holmes, and his wife, Ruby, of Leland; grandchildren, Kevin Todd Flynn (Jennifer) and Kristi Holmes Duke (Shane); great-granddaughter, Rossilyn Duke; step-grandson, Brandon White; nephew, Hank Lee (Michelle); and niece, Brucie Pope (Conrad).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Rossie Holmes; brother, Herbert Long Jr.; and sister, Betty Jo Long Lee.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 5, at First Baptist Church of Leland. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
