Edward Ragland Thomas III, 73, retired pharmacist and former owner of Thomas Drugs

SHALLOTTE — Edward Ragland Thomas III, 73, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018. He was born June 9, 1944, in Roxboro, N.C., a son of the late Phillip Langston Thomas and Rose Frasier Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip L. Thomas; Jr. and sister, Jane Hedgepeth.

He was a retired pharmacist and former owner of Thomas Drugs in Shallotte, Thomas Drugs in Oak Island and Seashore Drugs in Calabash.

He was a member of Shallotte Masonic Lodge No. 727, Wilmington Consistory Scottish Rite and the Sudan Temple.

Surviving are his son, Edward R. Thomas IV (Natasha ) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughters, Elizabeth Thomas Lewis (T.J.) and Hope Elaine Thomas, both of Shallotte; sister, Billie Miller Thomas of Yorktown, Va.; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, in St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery.
