WILMINGTON — Jean William Wenderlich, affectionately known as “Windy,” 83, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 26, 1934, the son of the late Edmund and Beatrice Wenderlich. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyliss Wenderlich; and son, William Wenderlich.
He is survived by daughter, Dawn Tillman, and Charlie, of New Milford, Conn.; son, Neil Wenderlich (Tammy) of Corrales, N.M.; daughter, Wanda Harris of Lester, Deansboro, N.Y.; son, Eric Wenderlich (Barbara) of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Mary Andersen of Cheshire, Conn.; grandchildren, Spencer Tillman, Alisha Tillman, Jennifer Winkless-Hall, Crystal Harris, Karl Andersen and Jake Andersen; and great-grandchild, Olivia Winkless. He is also survived by brothers, Karl Wenderlich (Geri) and Paul Wenderlich; and sister, Mary Fleet.
Windy retired from IMB and enjoyed retirement in North Carolina. He was a passionate actor and loved the theater and all his fellow actors and directors. He will be missed by all his golf and bowling friends as well. Windy was a longtime member of All Saints Catholic Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 9, at All Saints Catholic Church, 18737 U.S. 17, Hampstead.
