
CASTLE HAYNE — Hazel Jenkins, 86, passed away at home Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018.
She was born April 24, 1931, to the late Carmer and Susan Cavenaugh. They lived in Duplin County throughout her childhood.
Hazel married Roy Jenkins, and they lived together in Castle Hayne where they raised a family. She was a member of Castle Hayne Baptist for over 20 years. Most of Hazel’s leisure time was spent quilting or looking after her fellow church members and family.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her six brothers and sisters; and grandson, Paul Britt.
Left to remember her are her husband, Roy Jenkins; daughters, Beverly Britt (Cameron) of Lumberton, N.C., Gwenn Price (Greg) of Lumberton, N.C., and Julie Ayers (Robert) of Hampstead, N.C.; grandchildren, Charmin Padgett (Steve), Shawn Padgett (Lisa), Mandy Roberts (Rickson), Tara Bailey (Mike), Austin Price, Trey Ayers and Baleigh Ayers; great-grandchildren; Presleigh, Carter, Hudson and Asher; as well as many special nieces and nephews.
A service to remember Hazel will be held 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 29, at Castle Hayne Baptist. The family will meet with family and friends at noon prior to services at the church. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington. Pallbearers include Morris Thompson, Archie Parker, Winfred Bass, Shawn Padgett, Wendell Brown and Trey Ayers.
