ASH — Joan Sweatt Bullard, 65, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at her home.
Mrs. Bullard was born May 4, 1952, in Scotland County, a daughter of the late Leon and Christina Jordan Sweatt. She was also predeceased in death by a child, Curtis Bullard; brother, James Sweatt; and sister, Rhonda Lynn Chavis. She was a retired waitress.
She is survived by her children, Roger Smith of Waynesville, James Smith of Wilmington, John Oliver of Texas and Kimberly Funk of Calabash; two stepchildren, Gena Bullard of Columbia, S.C., and Rachel Davis of Wilmington; and four grandchildren, Gia Bullard, Alex Oliver, Cassidy Oliver and Roxvard Funk.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 16, at New Britton Baptist Church in Ash with the Rev. Steve Nobles officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte.
