SHALLOTTE — Joseph Elridge ‘Joey’ Stanley II, 59, was born in Brunswick County March 14, 1958, and died Monday, April 3, 2017. He was the son of Joseph Elridge Stanley Sr. and Jan Beck Stanley.
He was a millwright and rigger in the nuclear, steam and coal power plants with Duke Power and BHI for many years. Joey was an avid scuba diver and Harley Davidson enthusiast. He was a member of the Concerned Bikers Association. Joey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather. He loved and adored his family tremendously.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Elreidge Stanley Sr.; and sister, Joanna Stanley Jones.
He is survived by his mother, Jan Beck Stanley of Shallotte; wife, Rebekah Stanley; five children, Jolynn Bax, and her husband, Steven, of Supply, Kimberly Southward, and her husband, Matt, of Sunset Beach, William “B.J.” Stanley of Shallotte, Ashley Ellis of Ash, Matthew McDonald, and his wife, April, of Winston-Salem; stepson, Michael McDonald, and his wife, Regina, of Shallotte; brother, Jeffery Colt Stanley, and his wife, Liz, of Shallotte; sister, Jamie Trull, and her husband, Stephen, of Shallotte; brother in-law, Dean Jones of Shallotte; special nephew, Bobby Dean Jones of Shallotte; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his numerous coworkers who he considered family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 9, at Jennies Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Benton officiating. The family request that dress be casual. If you have a Harley Davidson shirt, please wear it at the service.
