ST. JAMES — Nancy Givens Moore passed away of Alzheimer’s disease on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016.
Mrs. Moore was born Jan. 29, 1941, in Jacksonville, Fla. She was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, in Arkadelphia, Ark., where she obtained a degree in education. Nancy began teaching school in Satellite Beach, Fla. During her teaching career, she taught at various grade levels in many different locations.
Nancy was extremely musically inclined and held various music leader positions. She was the former music director for Beach Road Baptist Church in Southport, N.C., sang in various choirs, and performed solo in the many churches she attended over the years. At Generations Church, she had worked in the children’s ministries. Nancy had been a member of the Christian women’s clubs, where she traveled doing speaking and singing engagements.
Nancy leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Ray Moore; a son, Todd Moore of Hampton, Va.; a daughter Melanie Moore of Ashburn, Va.; and two grandchildren, Ray Moore and Piper Moore.
The family will have a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Peacock–Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service in Southport, N.C. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Generations Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422; or to The Generations Church Building Fund, 4874 Old Long Beach Road S.E., Southport, NC 28461.
