
BOILING SPRING LAKES — Randolph Hewitt “Randy” Stewart, 73, of Boiling Spring Lakes passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Stewart was born Dec. 7, 1942, in Washington, D.C., son of the late Sheridan Kelly Stewart Jr. and Elizabeth Kessinger Stewart.
After attending Wheaton High School, Mr. Stewart attended Cebeil Chef School in Chicago, Illinois. He was employed at Duke Zeibert’s in Washington, D.C., and went on to start a catering business with Embassy’s.
Mr. Stewart was also known as a commercial fisherman and pilot boat captain at the Old Southport Yacht Basin. He was a real estate broker with focus on investments and rentals. Mr. Stewart was a longshoreman at Sunny Point for 36 years and was best known and recognized as the leading complete Professional Locksmith Service Company in all of Brunswick County since 1982, Stewart Enterprises, in which he worked for 34 years.
He enjoyed volunteering for Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Department where he held the office of past president, and was a major contributor and supporter for Boiling Spring Lakes VFW Post No. 10400. He was also governor of the Moose Lodge and a member of the Elks Club. Mr. Stewart was happiest sitting on his back deck overlooking the lake with his wife Christine. Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Christine Leger Stewart.
Survivors include his children, Randy Stewart Jr., and wife, Micha, and Gaylene James, John Banks and Leanne Yates; sister, Trudy Linenberger, and husband, Marc; stepmother, Arden Stewart; grandchildren, Mindy Allander, Samuel Stewart, Michael James, Kailey Yates and Tristan Yates; and a special exchange student, Shino Suzuki of Japan.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 19, at First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes with the Rev. John Roy officiating.
