George E. Mulcahy, 88, of Carolina Shores, died Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Hope Arbor Assisted Living, Loris.
Mr. Mulcahy was born April 14, 1928, in Bronx, N.Y., the son of the late George Earl and Elizabeth Regal Mulcahy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mulcahy, on June 12, 2016.
Mr. Mulcahy was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was retired from the New York City Transit System and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Tree Committee of Carolina Shores and active in the P.O.A.
Surviving are his son, Daniel Mulcahy, and wife, Teresa, of Stanley, N.C.; two daughters, Sharon Hoebee (Donald), of Longs, S.C., and Deborah Szwed, of Longs, S.C.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 7, at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will be private.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 at Brunswick Funeral Service, 5229 Ocean Highway W, Shallotte.
