
Elizabeth Quinn Bass, 79, of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016. She was born July 20, 1936, in Kinston, to the late Elijah Lee Quinn and Bernice Howard Quinn. Elizabeth was an active member of Devon Park United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir and working with the United Methodist Women. She was most passionate about caring for her family and being “Mema” to her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Bass Hendrix.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Jim Bass; daughter, Kimberly and husband Robert; grandchildren, Brandon Cavenaugh (Melissa), Jared Hendrix, Natalie Hendrix, Kayla Cavenaugh and Joshua Cavenaugh; great-granddaughter, Audrey Cavenaugh; brother, Robert “Buddy” Quinn (Brenda); brother-in-law, Bill Bass (Mary Lou); special family friend, Jane Weeks; and many other beloved friends and relatives.
The family received visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 22, at Andrews Market Street Chapel.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, at Devon Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Interment followed in Oleander Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were her grandsons and special friend, Ted Weeks.
The family would like to thank all of the loving caregivers at NHRMC and DaVita Dialysis for all of the care and concern shown to Elizabeth and her family over the years as well as the members of her church family for all of their prayers during this latest illness.
