Thomas Dudley Malpass, 82, enjoyed farming and gardening

Thomas Dudley Malpass, Sr., 82, went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, surrounded by his beloved family and friends.

He was born in Pender County and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force stationed in Texas, where he met his wife. He returned to Wilmington and worked for Nabisco as a route salesman, at McLean Trucking Company and for General Electric, from which he retired.

Tom was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Wilmington. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed farming and gardening and spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rachel L. Malpass; five sons, Thomas Dudley Malpass, Jr. (Carolyn), William Grady Malpass, Arthur Glenn Malpass, Gerry Craig Malpass (Kay) and Randal Dean Malpass; grandchildren, Amy, Bethany, Bryan, Kevin, Kaila, Katie, Karlee, Alex, Samantha, and Elliot; five great grandchildren; and one brother, Gene Edward Malpass.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2730 Northchase Parkway SE, Wilmington, NC 28405. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
