
Dorothy Kay Williams Wright, 68, passed peacefully from his earthly life on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.
She was born July 30, 1947, in Wilmington, one of 11 children born to Ellis Carson and Lillian Crocker Williams. Also remembered is her husband, James D. Wright and step-daughter, Paula Wright, both who preceded Dorothy in death.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Harry Burnett (Jamie), Kim Butler (Tony) and Lisa Statler (Gary); step-children, James D. Wright, Jr. and Jennifer Wright; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, Marlon Williams (Marsha), Elmer Williams, Alvin Williams (Cathy), Glenn Williams (Linda) and Charles Williams (Lee); and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Not only was Dorothy a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister but a generous friend to all who knew her. She found great joy in surf fishing, family gatherings and attending sunrise Easter services at Wrightsville Beach.
Dorothy created a home filled with love, joy and sunshine. Her warm heart, steadfast faith in God and sweet spirit will not be forgotten by those around her.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Parthena Skipper officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
