Rachel Marie Anders Ray, of Wilmington, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, surrounded by her family at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was 88.
She was born April 26, 1927, in Wilson County, daughter of the late Clyde Anders and Irene King Lewis.
Rachel retired from Texilease Uniform Services. She enjoyed fishing on the pier and loved the outdoors and flowers.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles E. Ray; son, Larry Ray and wife Patricia, of Wilmington; grandchildren, Tina R. Atkinson, Brittany J. Eaddy (Justin) and Kimberly Johnson; great-grandchildren, Bradley Atkinson, Jocelynn Atkinson, Perry Eaddy, Lauren Eaddy and Chloe Atkinson; sister, Elizabeth Patterson; brother, Clyde Anders Jr.; nieces and nephews, Nancy Thompson, Buddy Baldwin and Ronnie Anders (Vicki); and numerous other loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A service to celebrate her life will follow at noon, with the Rev. Libby Webb officiating. Interment will follow the service at Masonboro Baptist Church Cemetery.
