Bertha Millis George, 89, had perfect attendance at Masonboro Baptist Church for 53 years

Bertha Millis George died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at NorthChase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wilmington. She was 89.

Mrs. George was an active and longtime member of Masonboro Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She had perfect attendance at the church for over 53 years.

She was born in Onslow County on March 31, 1925, daughter of the late Cyrel Dixon Millis and Katie Hobbs Millis. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Bradley George, Jr., in 2002 and siblings, Clara Millis, Joseph Millis (Carol), Arlene Millis James, Beryl Dixon Millis and Annie Millis Farrow.

Surviving are her brothers and sisters, Alton Earl Millis (Gay), Robert Millis (Sandra) and Janie Snyder (Marty); brother-in-law, Avon George (Delphia); and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May, 23, 2014, at Masonboro Baptist Church, 1501 Beasley Road, Wilmington, with Dr. Gordon Wright, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
