The move, announced Wednesday, will allow the North Carolina Highway Patrol to purchase and occupy the former municipal building, enhancing public safety operations across Brunswick, Pender, Columbus, and New Hanover counties.

“We are eager to support the North Carolina Highway Patrol and excited about this development and the opportunities it brings for the future of Belville,” Mayor Mike Allen said. “We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation during this transition period.”

Lieutenant Colonel Jason R. Deardorff of the Highway Patrol expressed his appreciation for the town’s cooperation, stating, “The Town of Belville has been incredibly gracious and accommodating in working with us. In relinquishing their Town Hall building to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Belville is helping provide a modern and centrally based location for our operations in Northern Brunswick County.”

Deardorff said the move will help NC Highway Patrol better provide services for all of Southeastern North Carolina. The relocation is described by staff as a significant step in Belville’s growth, providing the Town Hall with a modern and accessible space while dedicating the former facility to public safety. The transition is expected to be seamless, with operations continuing at the current Town Hall until the move is complete in the next few weeks.
