Fifth Avenue and Castle Street intersection to close Monday

The northbound lanes of S. Fifth Avenue will be closed starting March 3. (CFPUA)

WILMINGTON— The intersection of Fifth Avenue and Castle Street will be partially closed beginning Monday, March 3, while crews replace water and sewer mains under the roadway. The closure is expected to be two weeks. 

Crews will first replace utilities under the northbound lanes of S. Fifth Avenue and then replace utilities under the southbound lanes. 

The northbound lanes of Fifth Avenue between Queen Street and Castle Street will be closed the week of March 3 starting Monday at 9 a.m. 

The southbound lanes of Fifth Avenue between Castle Street and Queen street will be closed the week of March 10 starting Monday at 9 a.m.

No through traffic will be allowed at the intersection of Castle Street and Fifth Avenue for the entirety of the project. Drivers will be directed to detour around the closures using Church and Queen streets.
