NHCSO traffic stop finds driver with 1K grams of cocaine, methamphetamine

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A driver with large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine was arrested by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

The NHCSO arrested Arnold Espana-Cruz after carrying out a traffic stop due to suspicious circumstances; Lt. Jerry Brewer told Port City Daily he did not know more details of context leading to the stop.

The sheriff’s office found Espana-Cruz did not have a license before the K-9 Deputy Coast searched the vehicle and found 1,000 grams of methamphetamine and 1,000 grams of cocaine.

Espana-Cruz has been charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine and Trafficking Cocaine. He is currently in the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $3 million bond.
