Wilmington Fire Department kicks off food drive for NourishNC

WILMINGTON — Starting Wednesday, Nov. 23, the Wilmington Fire Department will launch a food drive to help one area nonprofit that tries to keep kids fed outside of school

The 20 Days of Christmas Food Drive benefits Wilmington’s NourishNC. The department will collect non-perishable food items until Dec. 12. According to a press release from the department, each day corresponds with a food item on the NourishNC wishlist.

After 20 days, all boxes will be delivered to NourishNC. The food will stock their Market on Market, a place where families can grocery shop for free for healthy food. The donations also will help fill the nonprofit’s backpack program, wherein it sends food home with kids on weekends and holiday breaks.

The graphic above details needed canned and non-perishable goods. All items can be dropped off at any of the nine WFD stations:

Headquarters: 801 Market Street
Station 2: 3403 Park Avenue
Station 3: 114 Cinema Drive
Station 5: 680 Shipyard Boulevard
Station7: 3230 South College Road
Station 8: 601 Eastwood Road
Station 9: 1201 Military Cutoff Road
Station 10: 6102 Oleander Drive
Station 15: 3335 Masonboro Loop Road
