Amos Lee makes fall debut at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater

WILMINGTON — An American singer-songwriter with a silky-smooth falsetto, Amos Lee is coming to the Port City in October, in support of his latest release, “Dreamland”(ATO Records).

The 11-track LP debuted in February and features some of Lee’s most personal writing to date. According to the artist, his songs deal with the anxiety and depression he has struggled with throughout the years, as heard on his new hit “Worry No More.”

“For most of my life I’ve walked into rooms thinking, ‘I don’t belong here,’” Lee said in a statement. “I’ve come to the realization that I’m too comfortable as an isolated person, and I want to reach out more. This record came from questioning my connections to other people, to myself, to my past and to the future.”

Once a second-grade teacher, Lee played his blend of soul, roots and rock at open-mics in Philadelphia two decades ago, armed with his guitar, before getting his start as a full-time musician by opening for Mose Allison and BB King.

Ever since, he has released eight studio albums, with 2011’s “Mission Bell” (Blue Note Records) reaching the top of the charts in the U.S. It featured collaborations with artists such as Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Sam Beam (Iron and Wine), and Calexico.

In the midst of a summer tour currently, Lee announced his fall lineup Tuesday. It starts at the beginning of October in Davis, California, and by the end of the month wraps in New Orleans.

Lee will perform at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater on Oct. 19, 6 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. Presales start Wednesday, July 27, 10 a.m.
